General specification
Parallelogram type with treads pivoting on full length stringers. Robust all steel construction, the stair flight is mounted on a welded steel chassis sub-frame.
Manual lift-mast locking pins fitted to protect against hydraulic failure when elevated.The stair treads & top-platform walking-area are surfaced with punch/pierced steelplate. Lower step hinged for towing.Sliding panelled doors on top platform with hand-operated spring-bolts at both sides of the top-platform to facilitate opening the aircraft doors with the Steps interfaced with the Aircraft.
Leading edges fitted rubber buffering. A pivoting-section with rubber buffering is fitted at the leading edge of the top-platform to compensate with fuselage contours.The stair has tubular-steel side/hand rails with a mid-rail fitted to both sides of the stair-flight. Full steel panels are fitted to the sliding rails at each side of the top-platform.Steering is turntable-type through a ball-bearing ring, controlled by the tow-bar. Tow-bar has a 50mm diameter towing-eye and folding grip-handle to assist moving.
Four, 5-stud fixing, two-piece wheels, with 15×4.5-8 super elastic tyres are fitted on hubs with taper-roller bearingsParking-brake – operating on front steering wheels, actuated by raising the tow-bar.
Jacks are fitted to the sides of the chassis-frame.
Standard Finish
Chassis-Frame, Steering-Turntable, Tow-Bar, steps are Galvanised with ram & support frame painted with zinc rich primer & black topcoat. High-visibility (red ‘day-glo’ painted) markings, are applied to front/rear chassis corners and sides of tow-bar.
